For budget reasons Colton decided to race only the west coast rounds of the 2013 AMA Motocross series. At round 8 in Washougal, Washington Colton finished 27th in moto one and in moto 2, crashed while running 18th, ending his race early with a shoulder injury. After a little bit of rehab on the shoulder it was off to Tooele, Utah for round 11. Moto 1 was shaping up to be a good one, after a bad start Colton had worked his was up to 27th until crashing and knocking himself out, endinghis race and his season. Look for Colton to make his return to racing at The Monster Energy Cup in October.
Colton had a great weekend at Mammoth Motocross this past weekend. He finished 9th in open pro and 11th in 450 pro. Thanks to the support of Tri-County Powersports and Husqvarna, Colton raced a Husqvarna Cr125 in the 250 pro class as well as the 2-stroke challange. He took 5th in the 2-stroke challange and 19th in 250 pro after getting caught up in a crash on the start.
At round one of the 2013 AMA outdoor nationals at Hangtown, Colton missed the main event in the 450 class by just 1 spot. After missing qualifying at Hangtown it was off to round two in Lakewood CO for the Thunder Valley national. This time Colton made the main! The first moto didn’t go as planned, an early moto crash would result in a broken radiator and a dnf. In the second moto Colton took 25th, which was good enough for 32nd overall. Be sure to keep an eye out for Colton at all remaining west coast rounds of the 2013 AMA outdoor national series.
